Email [email protected] and a
person will answer. Telling me your device and iOS version saves a round
trip.
Using the app
- How do I change my equipment or how much time I have?
- The gear button, top right. Changing either re-rolls today’s workout,
because it is a statement about today.
- I don’t want this workout.
- Press and hold Start workout, then choose Give me a different
workout. There is no limit on how many times.
- I only have five minutes today.
- Press and hold Start workout, then choose Make it five
minutes. Today becomes one round of four movements, and it counts like
any other day. Choosing it again gives a different short one.
- I worked out, but not with the app.
- Press and hold Start workout, then I worked out today.
The day is recorded with the workout that was on the plan.
- I marked the day done by mistake.
- Press and hold the green Done today button, then Reset
today’s workout. A plain tap on that button does nothing, on
purpose: it means a stray tap can never undo your day.
- What if I don’t know how to do a movement?
- Tap it. Every movement has a picture, the steps in order, the mistake it
usually invites, and an easier version to fall back on. The book button at
the top left lists all of them.
- Can it tell me what to do, so I don’t have to look?
- Turn on Spoken cues in Preferences. During a workout it says each
movement and how much of it, when to switch sides, and when rest is nearly
over. Music keeps playing, a little quieter while it speaks. It is off until
you turn it on.
- Why is my workout on the Lock Screen?
- While a workout runs, the Lock Screen and the Dynamic Island show the
movement or the rest and how long is left, so you can check without
unlocking. It goes away when the workout ends. To turn it off, open
Settings, then Flap, then Live Activities.
- Can I use it in Spanish?
- Yes. If your iPhone is set to Spanish, Flap is too, and so are the watch
app and Siri. To change only Flap, open Settings, then Apps, then Flap, then
Language.
- What happens if I miss a day?
- Nothing. The next day has a new workout in it. The app shows how many days
you have moved and your current run of consecutive days, and that is all it
does with them. It will not message you about a day you missed.
Apple Watch
- How do I install the watch app?
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone, scroll to Available Apps and
install Flap. It also appears in the App Store on the watch itself.
- Does it need my phone nearby?
- No. The watch works out today’s circuit itself from your settings and
the date, so it works with your phone in another room. It syncs with the
phone whenever the two are next together.
- Why does the watch screen stay on during a workout?
- Starting a workout on the watch starts a real workout session, which is
what keeps the screen lit when your wrist drops and lets the app keep
running. It ends when the workout does.
Reminders, Health and your data
- Can I get a daily reminder?
- Yes, in Preferences, at a time you pick. It is off until you turn it on,
and it is the only notification the app ever sends. There is nothing about
missed days.
- Does it save to Apple Health?
- Only if you turn on Save workouts to Health. It writes finished
workouts and never reads anything from Health.
- Where is my history kept?
- On your device, with a copy in your own iCloud so it survives a lost or
replaced phone. There is no account and no server. See the
privacy policy.
- I got a new phone.
- Sign in to the same iCloud account and install Flap. Your history comes
back with it.
- How do I delete everything?
- Delete the app. To remove the iCloud copy too, turn iCloud Drive off for
Flap in Settings first. Anything already written to Apple Health is deleted
in Health.
Tips
- What does a tip unlock?
- Nothing. The whole app is free and there is nothing behind a paywall. The
tip jar is in Preferences if you want it, and the app never asks.
- Something went wrong with a purchase.
- Tips are handled by Apple. Refunds go through
reportaproblem.apple.com.
Something is broken
Email [email protected] with what you
did, what happened, and what you expected instead. Screenshots help, and so
does your iPhone model and iOS version. Both are in Settings, under General,
then About.
